Dr Vicky James-Perkins
Vicky is a sessional Clinical Psychologist who has recently joined The Family Place to support the specialist TESSA project and clinical work in Wales. Vicky has experience and training in DDP and Theraplay. Vicky began her work with children and families as a Primary School teacher, where she taught across schools in South Wales. This experience has always stayed with her as she progressed through her training and early experiences as a Clinical Psychologist. After working in a Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Vicky was able to deepen her understanding for working with attachment and trauma informed approaches through her work within the South East Wales Adoption Service, where she was Clinical Lead of the Psychology team. She has completed Theraplay level one, and DDP level one and two and is currently working towards her accreditation in DDP. More recently Vicky has begun to work with The Family Place, delivering consultations and groups for the TESSA project as well as contributing to the wider clinical work. This has enabled her to extend her experience and commitment to supporting Adoptive families across the varying stages of their adoption journey.
